Security Monthly Quality Rollup patches not installing on the Servers RRS feed

  • Hi,

    In our Monthly patching we have troubling to install Security Monthly Quality Rollup patches on Windows server 2012 R2.

    Some severs getting keep failed to install ecurity Monthly Quality Rollup patches.

    For Example last month patches KB4520005 failed like we have last  4 months patches.

    Error code which we getting is 0X800F0831 in SCCM console.

    we have installed latest servicing patches to this machines and all back troubleshooting link system file corruption, Rename software distribution folder, manual installation everything got unsuccessful.

  • Hi Mohanbabu,
       

    Please refer to the advice given by Microsoft: "Error 0x800f0831 when you install an update".
    This process requires you to get the "Missing_Package" information and then manually patch it.

  • Hi Mohan,
      

    Please consider finding the WindowsUpdate.log on the client (located in the Windows folder of the system partition) and by looking for error code 800F0831, to see the record when this problem occurs. These records can help you better identify the cause of the failure. 
      

    If you want to share these logs for sharing with forum members, you can paste the paragraphs directly into the thread. But please keep in mind the necessary processing of your privacy information.

    Please refer to the following steps to fix the Windows file corruption of the client.
       

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, right click the Windows button, and then select Command Prompt (Admin). If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow or Yes.
         
    2. Type the following command, and then press Enter.
      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
      It might take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.
        
    3. Type the following command and press Enter.
      sfc /scannow
      It might take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.
        
    4. Close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.

    Not just "logs", the article clarly states that the only log where "manifest missing for package" is recorded is the cbs.log (%windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log).
