AD and Exchange Consolidation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I have a small organization with there primary head office in a different forest which has AD and Exchange infrastructure and two new subsidiaries the organization has acquired. Both the subsidiaries are on there own separate forests.

    They intend to merge and consolidate these two subsidiaries with the primary forest to move AD and exchange. What would be the procedure to do this?and considerations needed to make?

    Appreciate some help

    Thanks

  • Hi

     First you should configure domain trust between these domains,

    Domain trust;https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816837%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

    Then you can migrate AD resources (users,groups,computers) with ADMT from sudsites to forest;

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc974332(v=ws.10).aspx

    Also you can do exchange crross forest migration;

  • Agreed with what Burak said above.

    One more idea, before proceeding any thing, you must ensure strong backup which will help you to revert back in case of weird situation.

    Moreover, when it comes to exchange mailbox migration, you may also consider at LepideMigrator for Exchange tool which provides hassle-free environment to get this job done without having downtime i.e, at your own convenience.

    Organizations who want increase their visibility as to what's happening in their IT environments but are perhaps limited on time, resources or budget. Lepide 2020 audit & change control suite provides instant access to see who, what, where and when changes are being made to Active Directory, Group Policy, SQL Servers, SharePoint, File Servers, Exchange Servers and more.
