  • HI Chesea,

    Thank you for the support,

We have a response from the Microsoft contact and they say that the issue we are seeing is how SharePoint behaves and that’s by design.

  • Hi,

Please check the following things to narrow down your issue:

    1. Check if attachments are disabled in this list.

Go to List Settings > Advanced Settings and check if "Attachments to list items are" is set to "Disabled". If it is disabled, switch to “Enabled”.

    2. Check if your file name is beyond the 128 characters limitation. If you attach a file that has a name longer than 128 characters, it cannot be saved.

    Here’s your reference.

When Your List Item Attachments “Disappear” After You Hit Save.

  • Hi,

    Please check as following:

    1. Make sure you have filled in all required columns before you attach files to the item and then click save.

    2. Does this happen to multiple users or just one user? If it is just one user, check permission for this user. Delete and re-add this user to the site collection.

    3. Switch to another browser and check if the same issue will occur.

    4. Create a new list and then create a new item with attachment to see if the attachment can be saved.

    Best regards,

    Chelsea Wu
