Get-WinEvent Windows 8: The data is invalid

  • I cannot run Get-WinEvent on either of my 2 Windows 8 machines. I have tried running them i -version 2 mode, it's stille the same. I get the following error:

    Get-WinEvent : The data is invalid

  • You are getting error with only when you execute  Get-winevent ? or are you adding any parameters to it ?

    Im only executing Get-WinEvent, no parameters.

    CurrentCulture : da-DK
    CurrentUICulture : en-GB

    CurrentCulture : en-US
    CurrentUICulture : en-GB

    Tried changing Culture location UI language. Nothing worked, still the same.

  • Hi,

    Based on my test, also had a same problem on my computer. Windows 8 Enterprise. even changed the

    CurrentCulture:en-us and CurrentUICulture: en-us to CurrentCulture:en-GB and CurrentUICulture: en-GB.
