Exclude base from auto protection mode

    General discussion

  • Hello!

I have DPM 2012 R2 with backup of auto protection all SQL bases from one server in production.

On this server users create many new sql bases which i need backup, but some bases of them is only for test

    Which no need to backup.

How to exclude this bases from protection group?

I tried to delete and save in inactive replica, but this don't work.

  • Hello!
You can remove/exclude databases from protection groups by right clicking the Protection Group that contains the SQL databases that you backup and then choose Modify protection group

Then select the server where you have your SQL Server databases on and expand it, to exclude/remove the protection of the databases uncheck the boxes of the databases that you don't want to be backed up.

    Best regards,
    Leon

If i uncheked any of the base protection group will not be auto backup new bases.

  • When protection at the instance level is turned on, DPM detects new databases on that instance and automatically adds them to its protection group.

Unless you create new Instances, they will not be added automatically.

But if you create a database under an instance that is already protected in DPM, they will be automatically added.
