AD: Auto Archive Outlook 2010 GPO
Question
-
Hello,
I am currently testing Auto Archiving in Outlook 2010 via GPO but am having a little trouble with it. I copied the ADMX files to the DC and the workstation I am testing it from. I was able to get the policy applied and everything seems to be working. However, here is where I am confused. I have it set to auto archive anything older than a month (to test) and the only thing I see archived are Sent emails. Does anyone know why it did not archive the Inbox and anything that was older than a month in it?
On this test machine:
Windows 7 64bit
Office 2010
Server:
Exchange 2010
AD 2008 R2

Hi,
How you configured Outlook Auto Archive in Group Policy? Do you use Outlook 2010 Administrative Templates to configure the GPO?
Please export and post the Group Policy settings for further troubleshooting.
You may refer to this article to redeploy auto archive group policy in test environment and check whether it works:

Hi,
Please use Group Policy Management Console to generate a Group Policy result to check policy apply status.
After you applied Outlook 2010 Auto Archive policy, its data are stored at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\outlook\preferences
Check such registry hive in your client; make sure your user applied the policy successfully.

Hi,
Not sure if I should be bumping an old topic but was a solution ever found for this as I am experiencing the same problem/same scenario and found the issue to be caused by the Inbox folder's default auto-archive setting being 'do not auto-archive items in this folder'
This is not the case for the 'Sent' items folder and its getting archived ok. For some reason the GPO is not applying to the Inbox folder and items in this folder are therefore not being archived.....
Windows 7 64bit
Office 2010
Server: Exchange 2010
AD 2008 R2
GPO applied using Office 2010 ADM templates....

Eli.
In order to manage Office through GPO, you MUST install Office Administrative Templates. I mean, you won't see such tree within GPO Manangement Console unless you manually add it/them. Why? Because you can only see policies for which your server's OPERATING SYSTEM is being used for. Some of those policies are OS related, and some are for the server roles you've installed (which means such policies are added at a later time and not right after you install OS on the server).
So... here you have the link for downloading Office 2010 ADMX files ("Administrative Templates" is how they're called). If you have another Office version you can browse by yourself.
