Using colours in the default Gantt view (Project Tasks)

    Question

  • I have a project task list based on the default “Project Tasks” list defined in Sharepoint. In the list I have the following columns:

    • Project
    • Title
    • Start Date
    • Due Date
    • Task Status
    • Assigned To

I would like the bars in the Gantt view to have different colours depending on who the task is assigned to, e.g. pick a set of initials from a drop-down menu (Assigned To) and the bar will have one specific colour.

Is this possible without having admin rights to the server hosting the Sharepoint site?

  • Hey,

By using Javascript or Jquery you can acheieve it easily.Calculated column i think is the pointer which you will need to add.

  • I've seen the link you refer to before, but I'm not quite sure what to write where. In the code there is a [% Complete] which I believe is predefined (?). How do I refer to the employee instead?

I.e. if "Assigned To" = "NGH" then "colour of default task bar" = blue

(NGH being the initials of a person)

or something similar. Please ask if above is unclear.

    Thanks
