Windows 8 Pro updates not working

All replies

  • Hi franjm.

First of all, try executing the Windows Update Automated Troubleshooter: you can find it at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter; you can also use the tool provided by the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 10164.
If these tools cannot fix the problem, reset the Windows Update components as per Microsoft Knowledge Base article 971058.

    Bye.

  • Hi,

Is there any error message when it updates failed?

Please try to download and manually install the update.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx

Please try to run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) by taking following these steps:

    1. Open an administrative Command Prompt window.

    2. Type following command and then press Enter.

               sfc /scannow

    3.  After the scan is finished, try to install updates again.

If it can’t work, please try to reset the Windows Update Components, please refer the following link.

How do I reset Windows Update components?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components

If all methods can't work, please help us collect the cbs.log (%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) , windowsupdate.log (%windir%\windowsupdate.log) , CheckSUR.log (%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log), post them onto OneDrive and share the link here, which can help us do more research.

Note: If you have any concern about this, please send the dump files to tnmff@microsoft.com through email, but it may cause reply delay.
