Web Analytics, "Data Last Updated" does not change to current date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have Web Analytics up and running for a while. I have also data displayed in web analytics. When I open the Web Analytics, "Data Last Updated" does not show the current date, but I have the data on the days I selected! What could be the issue?

I mean I have data but the last updated data is incorrect. Could anyone help me please? Or give an idea?

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

  • Hi George,

Everything was looking fine in my situation, but it was not changing the date. I switched my attention to other projects, and I checked back a month later, and it was getting the current date. I did not do anything different, so I 'm not sure how it did start changing the date.

  • Hi Dan,

According to my experience, please follow the steps below to narrow down the issue:

    1. Verify that the .USAGE files are being generated on the servers recently.

    2. Verify that the SharePoint Logging database (LoggingDB) contains current information

    3. Verify the usage information is not exceeding the daily partition size for the LoggingDB

    4. Verify the data is successfully extracted from the LoggingDB into the StagingDB

    5. Verify the time that data was last copied from the StagingDB to the ReportingDB and the last time that data was successfully aggregated in the ReportingDB.

Or run the procedures in WebAnalyticsServiceApplication_ReportingDB and WebAnalyticsServiceApplication_StagingDB datebases.

  • Hi Kelly,

    Thanks for your reply.

I checked all the steps at the first link that you provided. My web analytics config passed every steps. My problem is "Data Last Updated" is not changing. I also checked the second link which does not seem to a solution to my environment.

    Thanks

  • Hi Dan,

    1. Verify the log collection schedule is configured correctly.
    2. Verify Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation Usage Data Import and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing Timer jobs are configured to run at regular intervals
    3. Verify Web Analytics Trigger Workflows Timer Job is enabled and scheduled to run at regular intervals
    4. Wait for a day to check.

  • Kelly,

I still can't see the latest date, but I'm doing additional changes every day to see if I get a result. I will post the solution once I have it.

    Thanks

  • Dan,

We are experiencing the same problem.  Our reports have current data, but the “data last updated” date is incorrect and not updating.

I’ve tried the solution below, but it didn’t help any.

Did you ever find a solution?

    Thanks,

    George

  • Dan,

My date updated after giving the service account that was running web anayltics dbowner rights to the sharepoint configuratoin database and admin rights on the sharepoint servers.  I was seeing some WMI access denied errors in the ULS logs so I gave local users group access/launch rights to WMI.  After waiting a day, my date updated.  I'm not sure which or if all these changes made the different's.  I need to circle back around and at least pull the admin rights for the service account and see if I can recreate the issue.  When I have time.  LOL.

  • I seem to have the problem on one farm where the date is not updated, but all data is updated.

I can also confirm that all 3 timer jobs are running with no errors. Not even a burp in ULS.

Super G Stein did you ever try to see if dbowner rights to the configuration database was enough?

We have some users that are getting confused about the date, but I simply can't find anything thing wrong that could cause it.

    Best Regards,

    Thomas
