Client Push failing with => CWmi::Connect(): ConnectServer(Namespace) failed. - 0x80010002 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are having a weird issue with SCCM 2007 Sp1 client push functionality.  It's kind of confusing as it connects to the ADMIN$ share via the CIA but failes to connect to WMI.  The server is W2k3 R2 and everything else is working.  Some clients are able to install and others are not.  Its almost like certain threads of CCM work and other don't.  Below is the excerpt from the CCM log with an example of the specific failure.

  • This mostly turn out to be a version issue the Checkpoint client on XP systems as there were issues with the filter driver.

  • Tim,

    The 80010002 error breaqks down like so:

    # for hex 0x80010002 / decimal -2147418110 :
      RPC_E_CALL_CANCELED                                           winerror.h
    # Call was canceled by the message filter.

    Is the WMI service running on the machine(s) in question?

  • Yes,  It seems we can get from XP to XP with wbemtest and W2k3 (No SP) to XP.   Then w2k3 R2 to XP SP3 (Unable to truely verify this) fails.   DCOM and everything else is fine.  How's it going Bruce .. long time no talk.

  • I am running into the same issue.  I have installed on several machines but with w2k3 R2 to XP SP3 i am noticing the client installs and it is recieving all the advertisements but will not communicate back.  Is there any fix to this?

  • Hey Tim - Doing pretty well - getting ready to start another SCCM (R2) deployment next week.  Can the XP machines connect via WBEMTEST (running as LocalSystem) back to the server?

  • Any chance that this is a firewall issue?

  • Same issue here, seems to be something with Checkpoint Firewall client.  Very strange that XP SP3 to XP SP3 can connect over WMI (Server 2003 w/ no service packs also), however Server 2003 R2 cannot.
