Deleting a published content type RRS feed

  • Question

  • How is this accomplished? I have an orphaned content type in a subscriber site collection. The original content type was deleted without being unpublished and the subscribers do not have full functionality to remove the orphaned content type. The only option available on the content type config page is 'Advanced'. There is no option to delete, or make any of the other changes that should be available to a local content type, which is what would have occurred if the content type had been correctly 'unpublished'. I have tried to generate a 'mirror' content type using the same options that the original used, but to no avail. I do not see any powershell commands to eliminate the content type and am not yet familiar enough with VS to generate a programmatic solution. Am I just stuck with this orphaned object?

    All help is greatly apreciated!

Answers

  • When you click on advanced, make sure the content type is not just in Read Only. If it is, change the option from Yes to No in the advanced settings.

Then you should be able to delete the content type
