Find last owner of a site that gave new access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm just wondering if it's possible to find the last owner of a site that gave access (preferably with powershell).

I'm not a SharePoint admin so this might all be possible through the GUI somehow. Basicly I have some sites that have multiple owners that can give new users access to there site, I'm looking for a way to see who gave access last or who gave access to who etc..

this information is not stored in Sharepoint. In Sharepoint 2013 if Access Request feature is enabled users may request access to specific site and this request will be stored in special Access Requests List where you may track the history of requests in theory (see e.g. SharePoint 2013: A look at Requesting Site Access), but in Sharepoint 2010 requests are managed through emails and can't be tracked (Configuring Site Request Access in SharePoint 2010). And regardless of this feature site owners may add users to the site directly. That's why basically it is better to have limited number of site owners.

Another way which you may try is to ask site owner who added specific user to the site)

  • Thanks, that cleared it up for me. I'll have to try something else.
