I have a robust database server which will be the back-end for my Sharepoint installation. I am working on the design of the application, which needs a database back-end as well. This database will not be high-traffic or high-volume. Will it be a bad idea to share the same server for the Sharepoint as well as the application database?
I think you'll be fine using the same database server. SQL Server is more than capable of handling multiple databases and there is no need to waste money or hardware to split it out. I'd say put your application there and if it becomes an issue you can always scale it to another server.Corey Roth
