SharePoint 2010: The trial period for this product has expired

    Question

  • This happened after doing a physical to virtual migration using VMware Converter. No smoke and mirrors.

SharePoint 2010 error message: The trial period for this product has expired.

Here is the kicker. It's an Enterprise license version with the key already in place.

    Tried the following
    1) Updating key through migration upgrade but grayed out
    2) Using the configuration wizard
    3) Restarted the separate SQL Server
    4) Restarted the SharePoint server

Thought about restoring from backup, but don't want to yet.

  • Hi,

this can be a somewhat misleading error message. Not seldomly it is related to an incomplete migration of the SP2010 server. Here is what you should execute on each server of your farm:

    psconfigui.exe –cmd setup –runbysetup

    Then it should run fine.

    Please let us know.

    Best regards,

    Martin
