Central Console with DPM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We have both SCOM 2007R2 and SCOM 2012.

And we have DPM 2010. We want to use Central console of DPM 2012.

Is it possible with DPM 2010 and SCOM 2007R2/2012?

Do we need to install a DPM 2012 server or just the console component of it??

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

Central console is only going to work with SCOM 2012.  DPM 2010 can be centrally administered with SCOM 2012 after installing the perquisite hotfix (V3.0.8180)  KB2615782 - Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 Interoperability Hotfix for Centralized Management with System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager RC

However, I would recommend that you install the lasted DPM 2010 fix which includes the prerequisite. This is V3.0.8195.0

  • Thanks Mike

We implemented and now using SCOM 2012 console we can manage our DPM 2010 servers.

My next concern is level of access.

So if someone wants to open DPM console from SCOM console, does that person needs to be local admin on DPM server?

We can use role based security from SCOM console for DPM people like tape admin, DPM admin,  DPM tape operator etc.

But do these guys needs to be local admin on DPM server?
