Can I run DPM 2016 as primary and DPM 2012 R2 as secondary? RRS feed

  • Question

    • I'm looking to upgrade our primary DPM 2012 R2 server to DPM 2016, leaving the secondary DPM 2012 R2 server alone for now.
    • I need to leave the secondary server running DPM 2012 R2 because just one of its protected servers is running an OS which isn't supported under DPM 2016. I will upgrade that server in the near future.
    • The two DPM servers are configured for Cyclic Protection, i.e. both protecting each other.

My question is: Can I upgrade just the primary server to DPM 2016 and keep the status quo, or will the two versions of DPM not coexist?

  • This will not work because the versions between the DPM server needs to be the same.

  • Thanks Lucas,

I can't believe I missed that vital piece of info, despite extensive reading.
