Configure outgoing email for a SharePoint Server farm - Error starting SMTP service RRS feed

    Hi all,

    We are setting an SMTP configuration for outgoing emails by following this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/administration/outgoing-email-configuration which enables the STMP Service in IIS 6.

    When we try to start the service, the service is not started and throws the following error:  "The service could not bind instance 1.  The data is the error code".

    Can you help?

    which versions of SharePoint are you using ? can you provide some event log related to this ?

    Solved. There was another service using port 25.
