Office Web Apps 2013 Not Working

    Question

  • Installed Office Web Apps 2013 according to directions, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219455(v=office.15).aspx#scenario1  Windows 2012 server joined to a domain.

    New-OfficeWebAppsFarm –InternalURL "http://servername" –AllowHttp -EditingEnabled

Getting the status of the machine shows that it is "Unhealthy" but no explanation as to why.  Verification works fine and generate.aspx works fine after I switched on the OpenFromUrlEnabled bit.  However, when trying to get to a file (Word or PowerPoint), via the link generated by Generate.aspx, it just spins and eventually times out with an error that the server is busy or something or other.

Is this expected behavior when just trying to view a document from the Office Web Apps server itself?

  • Hello,

I was just about to say I was getting the same, until I saw the part about not being logged in as the system account while trying to open a doc.

After doing the following I was successfull in my test environment:

    1. log in as a non-system account

    2. In IE, add the OfficeWebApps server as trusted in the intranet

    3. Add the OfficeWebApps URL as an exception if you have a Proxy for Internet Access
