I have sharepoint server 2010 installed on my win7 dev box.
Often when navigating to pages (same web app, same site collection so not a case of the app pool needing warming up) IE will say this page cannot be displayed. I need to hit refresh once or twice in order to get it to display. A few pages later the same again and again...etc It gets very annoying.
Any idea why?
I see 2 possibilities.
- You can't say that if you hit a page in the same web app or site collection all pages within it are warmed up. If I remember correclty, the asp.net parser compiles all asp.net pages in the same directory, but not more. If you want to read up on dealing with warm-up scenarios, I can advise one of my older articles: http://www.loisandclark.eu/Pages/warmup.aspx
- It's quite possible that pages time out because you're server is under a lot of stress. You'll need to find out if this is so. There are lots of things to check for, but the following TN WIki page provides a nice overview: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7926.sharepoint-2010-tips-for-dealing-with-performance-issues.aspx
this issue appears more to do with IE and your local network load than the Sharepoint itself. Try contacting your company desktop support and see if its something to do with your machine. Also try to see if its only you who is experiencing this or other peaple in your team as well are facing the same issue
Thanks, this is a stand alone PC at home with plenty of resources and not much else running at the time.
The "page cannot be displayed" is almost instant. There are no messages in the event viewer or in the ULS logs. This pages are currently almost blank. No 3rd party code, home made solutions, no external content.
These pages are in the same site (therefore app pool)
