  • There are logs under %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs. You may find something helpful in Launchpad.log.

  • All Windows Updates installed?

What is the common denominator of these 4 systems? Anti Virus, FW?

  • All patches applied.  Different makers of hardware including homebrew.  Different AV from Norton to Security Essentials.

The only commonality I can see is I'm running x64 across the board.

I had no trouble with the Windows Home Server 2011 Launchpad.  It installed and launched properly.  This one installs but fails to launch.

  • It did prompt your and/or you unistalled the WHS connector first?

The next area would be .net I suppose.  Does that raise any ideas? Do you have any "odd" 3rd party apps in common on these boxes?  No clue, but you do not have the 64 bit of Office on them?

  • I uninstalled all Home connectors first.  Didn't want to leave that to chance.

I thought about .Net as well.  No odd 3rd party stuff.  Office x64 is on 2, no Office on a 3rd, and Office 2013 preview on the 4th.

I will have time to compare the lists of installed programs tonight.  There could be something the same on all of them since I install the same way.

  • AHA!

Thank you, QingFUW!  That was the tip I needed.  Here's an excerpt from the log:

[1096] 120718.210213.5022: General: Can not connect to server

So you can see that there was an error to load AWIECO WakeOnLAN.  I went to the Launchpad folder and deleted the DLL for AWIECO.  The second I did that Launchpad started loading properly.  I think I need to remove that add-in or manually copy the correct files to that folder.  I also added AWIECO before I installed the client computers.  It may be that I need to install the clients first then AWIECO.

    Thanks again!

  • Hello!  I am running into the same issue for several 8.1 PCs that I have.  I searched for the DLL for AWIECO to delete it, but could not find it in the bin on the client machines.  Can you confirm the name of the DLL or where it would be located?

    Thanks!
