WSUS Server for Primary Updates and MS Server for Secondary Update Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Please advise if it is possible to deploy a Group Policy that forces the OU to get the updates from WSUS. If the machine fails to join the domain for missing security patches can we re-direct the machine to get the updates like critical and security from Microsoft directly before they are allowed to connect.

If this is possible how do we re-direct the OU to check the WSUS server from our ENterprise environment and then failover to Microsoft.

  • Hi,
Based on my understanding of WSUS update, once the client is out of the scope from GPO, the WSUS update will be not working for that client and client will be contact Microsoft for updates.
As when WSUS GPO apply, some registry keys will be created on the client, in order to directly make clients contact Microsoft for updates, I would suggest you use a scheduled task to delete the WSUS registry keys from client once the client is out of the OU/domain.
    Best regards,
    Wendy
