Visibility of List link in Quick Launch depends of user permission RRS feed

  • Question

  • In sharepoint 2010  only those users, who has access to list, can  see the reference to the list in Quick Launch.

It seems that in In sharepoint 2013 all users  can  see the reference to the list in Quick Launch,

but not all see content of list (list items ).

Is it any way to make it's  behavior similar to sharepoint 2010 ?

  • I think the permission inheritance must be stopped in one of the layer in that sub site or the top level site, which might have caused this behavior.

    Verify and check the behavior.

  • Stopping  of permission inheritance   gives no result.

  •  I found Sharepoint 2013 quick launch behavior is similar to sharepoint 2010. Only thing I need to do is just activate the site collection feature called 'Limited-access user permission lockdown mode', which was deactivated by default in my case.

  • Thanks for making the connection between ViewFormPagesLockdown feature, Limited Access permission and the Quicklaunch.  I've tried to sum up the problem and solution on TechNet Wiki.  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/34990.sharepoint-user-with-limited-access-can-view-lists-in-quick-launch.aspx
