Restoring older version of Reporting Services 2012 to 2016

  •  I installed  SSRS 2016 and restored my 2012 report server dbs to my 2016 server.  Will cause me to loose some of the functionality of in 2016 SSRS.  I am not seeing the branding tab or KPI  in the 2016 memus.  All my reports from the report dbs I restored are appearing.   Any suggestions ?   Thanks In advance.

  • Hi Longstreet48,

SSRS 2012 does not have the features of branding or KPI.

If you want to use the KPI and see the branding, you need to log into Report Manager for SSRS 2016.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi ,

Please correct me if I am getting it wrong .

you are using 2012 DBs on SSRS 2016 .

try to change the compatibility of report server databases to 13 and then restart SSRS services.

  • After changing the compatibility to 130 I still am  not able to see KPI or branding .  I running sql 2016 Standard version Version 13.0.4435.0. Does it matter what option you select when installing reporting services?  Tabular vs non?  Thanks

  • Hi,

Standard version does not support branding. Cheers.

  • KPIs are an Enterprise feature. They are only available in the Enterprise and Developer Editions.
