Assignment not showing on timesheet - but schedule shows planned hours? RRS feed

  • I have a few assignments in several projects where the following is the case:

    • Schedule shows planned work for the current week
    • Timesheet does not display these tasks, and when the tasks are manually added there is no planned work for the current week (doesn't match schedule). Interestingly enough the start dates shown are also incorrect compared to the schedule.

    The following is true of the tasks:

    • Not locked
    • Assignment Owner = Assignee (the users on their profile are also their own Default Assignment Owner)
    • Fixed Duration, non effort-driven
    • Publish = Yes
    • There's Remaining Work on both task and assignment
    • Booking Type = Committed
    • Project has been recently published
    • Finish Date is in the future
    • Task is active
    • Task is auto scheduled
    • Assignment is not currently pending approval

    Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've tried deleting the timesheets and creating again to no avail.

  • Hi, 

    Do you see the planned work for same time period in Task or Assignment usage view in Microsoft Project. If not then that is the reason why planned work in now showing up in timesheet for that specific period.

    1) Launch Project professional

    2) Open the Project Plan

    3) Switch to Task or assignment usage view

    4) check if you work is showing up for same time period for the assignment.

  • Hi Kiran - yes the planned work is showing in the Task/Assignment Usage views in the MS Project schedule.

  • From my experience, what could cause the issue is because user entered actuals in the task for the week after. 
    For example:

    - Task is assigned/scheduled to start at Week 1- May 01

    - User entered timesheet in Week 2 - May 08 

    - User realized he/she forgot to enter hours in Week 1, come back to enter hours and find the task is not available. 

    Solution: Go to Timesheet - Add Row - Select from Existing assignment -> Add task manually back in
