Generate a DPM license report? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

We have a DPM 2010 server running in our enviornment protecting multiple computers form different groups. We see on the Management tab that DPM knows what client types are in use (Standard, Enterprise, Client), but we can't figure out a way to get it to tell us which license "belongs" to which computer. This is important for billing purposes, so we need to find a way to extract this information so there is no disagreement over which server is using what type of license.

I figured out I could use DPM PowerShell to list all the client computers with:

    Get-ProductionServer -DPMServerName <SERVERNAME> | fl

But unfortunately this doesn't include the client license information.

Can anyone tell us how to get to the information that DPM is clearly tracking on the Management tab?

    Thanks!

  • basically, any server that just has it's file system protected uses a standard license, anything that has Hyper-V, SharePoint, Exchange or SQL will use an Enterprise license,

  • Understood and that is the logic we used to "guess" at which server was using which license type, but it would still be nice to get at this information since it appears to be tracked in DPM.
