Different versions of vmictimeprovider.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Our customer has experienced, that their Windows 7 clients for some reason are using different versions of the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\VMICTIMEPROVIDER.DLL

    From SCCM:

    File                                       Version                                                      Location

    vmictimeprovider.dll       6.1.7601.24000 (win7sp1_ldr.171231-1547)           C:\WINDOWS\system32\

    vmictimeprovider.dll       6.3.9600.18080 (winblue_ltsb.151001-0600)          C:\WINDOWS\system32\

It is not a matter of using or not using the dll, they just want it aligned.

Is the newer version covered in some update?

Can you help us getting this matter fixed?

    Best regards

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

If there is not a specific error message appears about Vmictimeprovider.dll, you and your users don’t need to care these .dll files version.

Dll files version is depending on system version, different system have different dll files, big digit numbers or bigger size dll files are usually newer version, but it is meaningless that talking about dll file version without system version.

In your scenario, vmictimeprovider.dll 6.3.9600.18080 should be a newer version, however, if the machine has vmictimeprovider.dll 6.3.9600.18080 use different system build, it’s normal.

At first, vmictimeprovider.dll does has two version, it’s not a problem.

    Regards
