Infopath Task Form Error : You do not have permissions to access a SharePoint list... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a workflow and I customized the task form by adding a lookup field.

When the workflow runs, I can open the task and approve/ reject from outlook.

However if I want to approve from SharePoint by navigating to the task list, I have the following error :

You do not have permissions to access a SharePoint list that contains data required for this form to function correctly.

An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.

    Log ID:5566

    and in ULS logs :

When I remove the lookup site column from task form and just enter a new field (choice) it works fine and I do not understand why! My user is the site collection administrator there is no way to get access denied..

  • Yes I tried that and yes it is editable!  Does not make any sense, does it?

Anyway-  gave up and created a new site and added the content types to new lists and it works there. Everytime, too much editing with infopath, always crashes like this. Best thing is always save / backup everything while they are still working! I am copying the workflow in everystep.

  • Did you verify that you are using the correct URL when creating the Data Connection? I mean no issues with your AAM?

Just wanted to check as the ULS log read

The form cannot run the specified query. The list could not be found.

  • I also checked the URL on data connection and it is exactly the same as the one in browser address bar.I dont understand why it is running fine on Outlook task form (I am able to pick a value and approve there) and not working in SharePoint!

  • can you try something very basic and let me know if it works or not?

Create a test account or if you already have an account then make sure that account is contributor on the site and the task list. Assign task to just that user and see if task can be edited from Outlook and from SharePoint?

  • I suffered similar issue in Infopath, and i finally solved the issue by changing the data connection URL, it should the same as the Infopath publish location.

for example: SP server iP 192.168.1.1 have two name, hostname is mySP, alternate assces mapping name is companySP, and you can access the websit by both http://mySP and http://companySP

    hope it can help someone..

  • Please be sure the link which is used for data URL connection is also shared to "View only" at least for the people (as an owner probably you have the rights already, but this needs to be shared to other people as well)

  • By the way, here is where the problem lies,

I guess you copy pasted the link as hosted on the SharePoint, now instead of doing that, type the link starting from http://...... it will give you options, each time, pick the one that's not as exact as the site link but still has the data connection link you created.

That will fix the problem. I know its an old question but it could help someone else in future.
