  • Question

  • Description:

Integrated SCOM 2019 to O365 subscription (by following steps from below link) Office 365 Monitoring using SCOM https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Office-365-using-SCOM-7b254a42

However getting an alert in SCOM 2019 stating "The monitor oversees the availability of connection to Office 365 API EndPoint" and data flow is not happening between SCOM and O365.

And the error is with global connection to Office 365 API EndPoint. Have double checked O365 Subscription's account and it is correct

Note: I am able to connect Azure Subscription successfully to SCOM 2019 Please advice and guide how to resolve the issue

See below the complete alert received in SCOM 2019.

  • Hi,

    Just followed O365 MP Guide:

Edited Monitoring Host configuration file, Monitoring Console configuration file as said in Office 365 MP Guide and restarted the monitoring services.

Further, verified the permissions mentioned in Run As Account and Run As profile as per Office 365 MP Guide and made changes in run as profile of o365 subscription proxy

Further, Configured Management Server proxy settings: enable “Use a proxy server for communication with Microsoft” in management server.

Finally the Office 365 Connection State monitor alert got resolved. But can see same alert count remains in Tune Management Pack under Administration Tab with "Alert Name: Connection state" and "Count as: xxxx".

Any way to confirm whether connection state issue is resolved? And also checking O365 Monitoring Dashboard and only see subscription health state currently.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Balasubramanian.Murugesan

  • Hi Leon,

I have cross referred above blogs too. But the alert remains same.

I can confirm, the Credentials of Office 365 Subscription's account is correct(i.e, for ex:xxxx@xxxxx.onmicrosoft.com)

Further, trying to find insights on  "Issues with global connection to Office 365 API EndPoint" or with
"Office 365 Subscription's account is not allowed to get data from Office 365 EndPoint API"  causes. Any idea on this please.

    Kindly advice

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Is this a Office 365 dedicated subscription?

Did you also go through the Office365 management pack guide (Office 365 MP Operations Guide.docx)

  • It is Office 365 E3 (free trial) subscription which expires on Jan 6th 2020.

SCOM 2019 is an evaluation version.

  • I'm not sure about the trials, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Did you use a Global Administrator account of Microsoft Office 365 Subscription?

    From the management pack guide:

Office 365 Subscription Proxy secure reference Run As Profile should be configured manually. This profile is used by all rules and monitors defined in this Management Pack. All Run As Accounts mapped to this profile should have the following permissions:

    • be a member of “Operations Manager Operators” System Center Operations Manager user role;
    • be able to establish an HTTPS connection from the Management Server to Office 365 portal endpoint. Please check firewall and proxy settings within your environment to ensure that aforementioned connection is allowed.

  • Hi,

Besides the suggestions Leon provided, please also try to do a test: Create a resource pool where only that MS was added which has access to the O365. Use this resource pool when add O365 subscription. Check if it can work well.

If any update, please let us know.

    Best regards.

  • You should only see your health of your subscription under "Subscription Health" in your Office 365 Monitoring Dashboard, if you click on it you should see the service status as well, if the subscription health is Healthy then you should be good.

  • Hi,

Following up above conversation, I integrated the O365 Subscription and  Office 365 Connection State changed healthy. But I am not getting any data flow and can see configuration, performance and security monitors in health explorer shows " their state is unknown". Any idea on this please.

    Thanks & Regards,
