How to open MSDTC trace files on Windows Server 2008. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to troubleshoot MSDTC issues in Windows Server 2008.

I have copied the Tracefmt.exe and traceprt.dll from “c:\Program Files \Support Tools” from windows XP machine to c:\windows\system32\msdtc\trace in Windows Server 2008.

    I am following this article

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/puneetgupta/2009/02/06/the-hidden-tool-msdtc-transaction-tracing/

I can't open the trace yet and still get an error saying traceprt.dll is missing?

Is there a new way to open trace logs? I am running the below command.

    C:\windows\system32\msdtc\trace>MSDTCVTR.bat -tracelog dtctrace.log.2009.filename -o abortedtrace
