SSIS memory usage / locking up

  • Hello,

I have a bunch of SSIS packages that are all ran by one master package that calls each one in the appropriate (dependency) order to load a database.  The DB in the end will be around 30+ gigs, so it is a lot of data.  My question is sometimes as I watch the activity monitor, it will just basically stop and sit on a SELECT query.  It will have the ASYNC_NETWORK_IO error and the dtexec process will be sitting (no cpu/memory change).  So it seems that the client stopped responding.  It happens in different parts of the master package.  This is kind of a vague question, but do you know what would cause this to happen?  I have been thinking it is memory usage so I changed some of the larger packages to have a Max Commit SIze.  Some have a lot of rows (3,000,000+) and other's just have some large NVarChar and NText fields.

    Any tips/ideas?

  • Have you tried using the SQL profiler to monitor the DB  related activities?
