OneDrive | New features| "Request Files" command for folders on the OneDrive for Business web experience RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Request Files is a new feature in OneDrive for Business which enables you to create special links for requesting files. Anyone with the file request link will be able to upload files without signing in, no OneDrive account required. The users that you request files from cannot see files in your OneDrive folder - they can only upload files to it.

    Prerequisite settings:

    1. In External Sharing, administrator must enable Anyone links in OneDrive for file requests to work.
    2. The permission for Anyone links must be set to View, edit, and upload for folders.

    How to request files

    1. In your OneDrive, select the folder where you want the files to be uploaded, and then click Request files.
    2. Add a description of the files you’re requesting, click Next.
    1. Type the email of the person from whom you are requesting files or copy the link and send it directly.
    1. After the recipient clicks on the invitation link, they will be able to upload files requested.
    1. The original requestor will get an email when recipients submit files to the folder,  author of the document will be “Guest Contributor”:

    How to stop requesting files

In OneDrive, select the file request folder->click on the […] ellipsis button-> Details-> Manage Access-> navigate to the ellipsis menu beside the request link in the Links Giving Access section->click on x”button to delete the link:
