Extract Data From Excel To Database Table

Hi,

If I have a folder where xls files are dropped into it it possible to create a SQL job that will extract all data from these files and import them to a table in a database?

If so is it possible to set this up in management studio or will I need to create some sort of SSIS job?

You better create an SSIS package and run it using SQL Server Agent Job.

there are some ways in SSMS such as linked server or distributed queries,which you can use without using other tools such as ssis, biztalk, c# code + sql job etc etc.
