How to re-run the in-console update? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Due to excessively overbearing and conservative change control process, when the 1910 in-console update was installed the new features were not selected.  There does not seem to be a way to re-run the install from the console to get those features now.  There are various setup files (splash.hta under cd.latest folder and setup.exe in cd.latest\SMSSETUP\BIN\X64) but both try to start a fresh install.  Haven't seen anything in the official docs and Bing, Google and searches here came up empty. It's probably simple, but with something as complex and house-of-cards-ish as SCCM, er, MECM rather, I don't want to push buttons blindly so to speak. We have the simplest single-site-single-server case.

  • Hi,

The features are just not enabled during your upgrade process, if we need to use them, just navigate to  Administration \ Updates and Servicing \ Features, and right click the feature and turn on it:

  • Hi,

If we want to use the pre-release features and the Turn on buttons are grayed out, we need to configure the hierarchy settings to check the Consent to use Pre-Release features, and then the Turn on button of pre-release feature will be available:

  • Thank you!  For some reason I wasn't getting the "Turn on" option in the menu bar or right-click. The in-console update was done three weeks ago and we've been using like mad for OSD and application deployments it since, but until last weekend when server was re-started to apply Windows updates that pesky "Turn on" didn't appear.  Should know after almost 40 years the number one IT troubleshooting tool: "Did you reboot"?
