how to pass a parameter to ssrs 2016 mobile reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can anyone point to the documentation (or other resources) for passing a parameter to SQL Server 2016 mobile reports in a url?

I have found no examples of syntax, unless it can be assumed that it is exactly the same as paginated report.

    Thanks

  • Hi R Noone,

According to your description, you want to pass parameters in URL for Reporting Service 2016 mobile reports. Right?

In Reporting Service 2016, we can only access mobile reports on Web Portal(Report Manager). It can’t be opened on report server URL. This item type is not supported for URL access. Your requirement cannot be achieved currently.

If you still have any questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    Xi Jin.

  • Thanks Xi Jin

Is this on the roadmap? If so, when is it expected that this functionality will be available?

Is this not functionality that had been available in Datazen?

    Regards,

    Rory

  • So, can we or can we not access a mobile report by navigating to it in the browser (phone, tablet, pc, etc)?

    Can someone clarify, please?

    Thanks

  • Hi markgoldin,

Yes, we can visit Reporting Service 2016 Web Portal URL to view mobile reports. You can find the Web Portal URL at Reporting Service Configuration Manager (RSCM).

    Reference:

    Web Portal

Create mobile reports with SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher

If you still have any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Thanks,

    Xi Jin.

  • Hi,

If your Shared Dataset has a Parameter option (Load on Demand) you can pass in the value you would like to assign using the querystring like this:

1 - Get the name of the Data Set as labelled in MRP (example TimeChartLoD)

2 - Add the querystring parameter for your value (example the parameter is called category -- TimeChartLoD.category=Clothing)

Please see the image for example

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Mark,

This is not possible using mobile power bi, only through the browser.

  • I'm a little confused on how to consume mobile reports on a mobile, desktop or tablet device. Can someone please explain ?

Is Mobile BI required to access ? I've heard yes it is, other places herein included that a URL to the report server will suffice using any HTML5 capable browser. Is this correct ?
