MAP tool automation to collect data RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I automate / silently run the MAP tool when I am trying to run the inventory collection procedure after installing the MAP tool. As there are a bunch of GUI screens in the MAP wizard I would like to run this behind the scenes , auto select options and collect inventory with no manual intervention.
    Is this possible.

MAP creates .bak file after collecting data. Can this be imported into a SQL Server database ?

  • Hi,

We regret to inform you that there are no  PowerShell scripts available for the automation of the MAP Toolkit.
Regarding MAP .bak file, you can import this to SQL Server.

If you have any further queries please mail to  mapfdbk@microsoft.com.

    Thank you.

  • As MAP will be out of support end of June 2020, it is better to look for alternatives. Check Lansweeper, that solution does the same (and more) and is always active. Data can be stored in a SQL Express DB or a full blown SQL instance. Plenty of support options are available too. I did a lot of support for MAP, it is sad to see it dying but with LS we have a great alternative.
