Windows Server 2008 R2 ---Guest Clustering SQL 2008 R2 within HyperV 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to guest cluster SQL 2008 R2 on a HyperV 2008 R2 2 node cluster. For my SharePoint 2010 Farm… I currently have 1 physical NICs per server each with 4 ports (I port connected for storage, 1 for HyperV CSV, 1 for HyperV Live migration, 1 for HyperV Heart Beat )

Can anyone let me know whether the above scenario is supported in the production system?

Is this Microsoft recommended best practice?

Pointers to good best /industry practice URL’s are highly appreciated.

  • You are going to need ports for host system access and VM guest access.  Once you have those, you can begin to create a guest cluster.
