I tried for hours to get my Database mail work, without success, on SQL Server 2005 ent Edition 64bit SP3 in cluster environment
I send mail with the test :
EXEC sp_send_dbmail @profile_name='SQLDBA',@email@example.com',
@subject='Bonjour ',@body='Congrates Database Mail Received By you Successfully.'
But this mail seems to be never sent.
EXEC msdb.dbo.sysmail_help_queue_sp @queue_type = 'mail';
The queue state is always INACTIVE,
I tried to restart the mail system some times :
I tried to restart of SQL Agent,
The broker is activated (SELECT is_broker_enabled FROM sys.databases WHERE name = 'msdb' ;),
Event Viewerlogs:The activated proc [dbo].[sp_sysmail_activate] running on queue msdb.dbo.ExternalMailQueue output the following:'the service queue "EXTERNALMAILQUEUE"'is disabled.
With this i STARTED with EXEC msdb.dbo.sysmail_start_sp;
and also alter queue EXTERNALMAILQUEUE with status on, But in 10 15 secs it again gets STOPPED.
I tried a msdn topic for:Troubleshooting Database Mail: Send mail from remote server when troubleshooting local server.below is the link given.
But above also dint worked for me.
Please help me getting out of this issue.

Use Database mail to send test email, follow the steps:
1. Enable SQL database mail.
2. Create database mail Profiles and Accounts. When you create the account, you need to input the SMTP Server name and port number, also the SMTP Authentication.
Then you could send test email.
Run the command: EXEC msdb.dbo.sysmail_help_queue_sp @queue_type = 'mail'. Check if the mail queue have the state of RECEIVES_OCCURRING.
Database Mail failing with “The service queue "ExternalMailQueue" is currently disabled.” Message: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlserverfaq/archive/2010/03/18/database-mail-failing-with-the-service-queue-externalmailqueue-is-currently-disabled-message.aspx.

Thanks for the reply, But have been to both the links given by you and have tested all means to start dbmail but not a single success in the same.
for alternate solution i also tested workaround as given :Troubleshooting Database Mail: Send mail from remote server when troubleshooting local server.below is the link given.
Would like to highlight that this SQL instance is in cluster environment and there are 3 more instance which are also configured for cluster and its DBMAIL is working well so why current single instance is caught in problem. can a failover and then failback could solve the issues just a try if possible.
overall Problem is still in place and for time being have opted a alternate solution but resolution for the above needs to be found out so please help me out to get rid of this issue.
Thanks and regards,
