Updates suddenly changed Download status to "No"

    Question

  • We recently noticed a problem with a few hundred updates that suddenly started to show up as not being downloaded. These updates were properly downloaded and deployed at the time they were released from Microsoft on Patch Tuesday. We checked the package source location and the Distribution Point package and those updates that had changed their download status to "no" are still there so at least the clients are receiving them properly. We were thinking the WSUS Cleanup Wizard may have caused this but we are still shaking our heads with this one. We went ahead and re-downloaded some of them to see if that properly updates the status, which it did, but we were wondering if others have seen this behavior.

  • We had the same issue last week and opend up an MS call.

Check your WSUS Download Report, you will see a lot auf Updates were revised by the WSUS Team last week. These Updates got a new signature, due to problems with the flame Virus.

You can still see all the Updates in your Updatelists and Deployments, but you cannot see them in the Packages (in the console), as they were revised, all the DB entries were updated.

The only thing you have to do, is download them again, and everything is working well again. The MS Support Engineer told me, that this can happen a few times more until the End of November.

So a good thing to do, is to check either the Wsync.log for many DB Records being updated or create a Download Status Report from the WSUS Console and look if there are "revised" Updates, every Wednesday until end of November.

  • Hello Roman,

we had the same issue, and Downloading it again was the solution. I saw about 2900 Updates Revised and 895 Expired in WSUS in one Day (2012-10-30).

    Thank you for your Post!

    Regards

    Florian
