Windows Updates available in Software Center with the option to choose which update to can be installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day all

Could we have some assist us regarding pushing Windows Updates to the Software Center? We need to push the Windows Updates to the Software Center with the option that you can select which updates can be installed. For example Administrator need to be able to choose which .net updates to they can install without breaking there applications they are supporting etc. As well as the option to download the updates but don't install updates automatically.

Our current setup are SCCM 1902

Any assistance will be greatly be appreciated.

    Regards

  • There are three options:

    1. Deploy the desired updates using an available deployment. This will not download the updates until the user initiates them from Software Center. Available deployments cannot be created by ADRs today.

    2. Deploy the desired updates using a required deployment and a deadline way in the future, like 10 years from now. If using an ADR set the deadline to occur in 12 months (the maximum offset).

    3. Deploy the desired updates using a required deployment and configure a maintenance window on the targeted systems that only occurs in the past. Ensure that you don't override the maintenance window in the deployment. The deadline is irrelevant for this option but must be set to something.

  • Thank you for the reply Jason.

Is there away via SCCM to a software update deployment with only telling the agents to download the updates. Because the issue we are experience are that when they starting downloading updates it will take forever or timeout. We have about 300+ servers.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  • Options 2 and 3 above both do this. There is no way to pre-download the updates with an available deployment.
