  • Hello!

I've tried to change alert description for MONITOR Percentage of Committed Memory in Use is too high

I used this alert parameters from article

    Object (Perf Object Name): $Data/Context/ObjectName$
    Counter (Perf Counter Name): $Data/Context/CounterName$
    Instance (Perf Instance Name): $Data/Context/InstanceName$
    *Value (Perf Counter Value): $Data/Context/Value$
    **Last Sampled Value $Data/Context/SampleValue$

In e-mail i dont't have "Last Sampled Value"

What shall i do to take this parameter in e-mail?

  • Maybe dataitem?

Add it after Context for all of your items:

    Alert: $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertName$ for server $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityPath$
    Source: $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityDisplayName$
    Path: $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityPath$
    Last modified by: $Data/Context/DataItem/LastModifiedBy$
    Last modified time: $Data/Context/DataItem/LastModifiedLocal$
    Alert description: $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertDescription$

  • The variables you list are the ones you can use for an alert description, not for a notification.

The alert is what shows up in the console, the notification is what is sent as an email.

The variables you can use in a notification are listed here : https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/15300.operations-manager-management-pack-authoring-variables.aspx#For_Notifications

And they don't include the actual counters values.

So what you need to do is to modify the alert description to show the counter values you need, since its content is then usable inside the notification

  • Hi,

Agree with CyrAz,  “Last Sampled Value” is not available for Notification but is available for the alert description for Performance Threshold Monitors. You can try the suggestion which CyrAz provide.

    ============================================================

    Notifications:

    $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertId$                                       The AlertID GUID

    $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertName$                                   The Alert Name

    $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertDescription$                              The Alert Description

    $Data/Context/DataItem/Category$                                    The Alert category

    $Data/Context/DataItem/CreatedByMonitor$                       True/False

    Performance Threshold Monitors (Alert Description):

    Object (Perf Object Name):                    $Data/Context/ObjectName$

    Counter (Perf Counter Name):                $Data/Context/CounterName$

    Instance (Perf Instance Name):              $Data/Context/InstanceName$

    *Value (Perf Counter Value):                  $Data/Context/Value$

    **Last Sampled Value                            $Data/Context/SampleValue$

    ============================================================================

  • In summary i turned off this monitor :(

And use another on vbs script.
