notification in SCSM problem management


  • Hi, I am using SCSM2010 SP1 CU3; is there a way to setup workflow to send email notification when an analyst assigned to a Problem (not an incident)?

     There isn't a workflow configuration for Problems, but you can set a Queue with the Problem class and configure a Subscription.

     If you need more details, just tell me.

  • Thanks, Felipe; I think I understand your general concept, just that I think subscription can only allow you to send notification to affected user? but in Problem, there is no affected user, and all I want is to notify "Assigned To" when a problem is assigned to them.

     The subscription allow you to send notifications to any person you want. No the "Affected User" or "Assigned To".
     With the console interface, I think there is no way to send the notification to the "Assigned To", because you have to set a "static" recipient.
     Tell me If I'm clear about this.
     Maybe, there is a way to develop a custom workflow, to achieve what you want. But, I can't guide you on that.

  • Workflows for the Problem class cannot be added via the console. Therefore, to setup a notification on Problem assignment to the assignee requires a custom workflow.This MP will send a notification to the assignee of a Problem when this value changes
