Issue while deleting Management Packs. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have an existing environment where we need to add a gateway Server. After the Gateway Server is being added, it is landing in the Grayed out State. When researched further, the solution asks to remove some Management Packs and dependencies. While attempting to remove the dependencies, we get the below mentioned errors and warnings:

What does it mean when it says that " Deleting Management Pack might affect the scoping of some users" ?

After the gateway Server is successfully working, if we re-import these management Servers, would all the agents be functioning properly or some other rework would also be required to be done?

  • Hi,

Based as I know, this is a caution for you when delete the MP. If the MP is not useable, we can click yes to delete it.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/manage-mp-import-remove-delete?view=sc-om-2019

After deleting the MPs, we can import back. Take care of the built-in sealed MP before deletion. Due to the question if the MPs will affect the agents, this is not sure. We can test to confirm. As a reminder, we suggest doing a backup before we do any deletion.

    Hope it can help.

    Best regards.

    Crystal

  • It is not possible to answer your question without having more details about what this MP were doing that was making the gateway fail, but chances are you will get the same problem if you simply reimport them without any modifications if they were indeed the cause of the issue.
