How to get "Available Capacity" to update in VMs and Service - Storage display RRS feed

  • Question

  • VMM 2016 Console with Update 3

I've noticed that after expanding a VHDX, restarting the VM, and refreshing the VM, the "Available Capacity" does not update for the VM itself, but does for the local storage (which is one and the same for this machine).  At some point VMM console updates the display, but I would prefer it to be sooner.  Any suggestions on how to force this?

  • Hello Robert,

After you expand the virtual disk storage to a larger one, you don't need to restart and refresh VM. You can just close the VMM console, and then re-launch the VMM console. The value of Total Capacity will be updated after you re-launch the console.

This is a workaround I figured out in my environment.

    Best regards,
