Can't add Win7 SP1 install package

Question
-
I'm trying to add Windows 7 with SP1 as an install package. I've already installed the hotfix that adds SP1 support. When I try to add it I get the error, "The specified source directory does not contain a valid operating system or you do not have permission to access it. Please specify a valid source directory." In smsprov.log I get, "Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due to error 8007000d." I know its not permissions as I'm able to add many other types of packages from the same share.Wednesday, June 8, 2011 2:41 PM

Problem ended up being the ISO, the fourth download of it worked.

What source are you using for the W7 binaries?
try copying to a share that is local to the siteserver and/or giving the machine account read rights to that share.
There should be no need to install the hotfix you mentioned btw...

Its an extracted ISO of Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 from VL.
Local share doesn't work, machine account already has permissions.

I'm able to add an RTM version, but not SP1. Why does SP1 not work?Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7:31 PM

Are there specific permissions set on the Windows 7 Enterprise folder? It still seems like a permission issue to me.
On other posts there are more/other solutions available:

Hi,
To have Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 supported in SCCM SP2, you should install SCCM hotfix KB2489044.
Thanks

Just to point that out again:
There's no need to install the hotfix to have ConfigMgr support SP1 installations!
Note You do not have to apply this update in order to support a client. You must apply this update only if you want to use the SMS Platforms setting for the software distribution, for software update management, and to obtain the desired configuration management features

Hi, have you tried already to use a different ISO file or DVD?
Look here for that: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/ba3326d5-2918-47a4-9b6a-aa1769ab636f/
