SCOM 2012 - specific error code 5.

    Question

  • Hi, I cant start the SCOM 2012 Agent on a server i get access denied.

From the services console: "Windows could not start the System Center Management on Local Computer. For more information review System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5."

Using command linie C:\>net start HealthService
The System Center Management service is starting.
The System Center Management service could not be started.
A service specific error occurred: 5.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3547.

I have imported also the registry key from other SCOM Agent.. nothing worked.

  • The event desciption is totaly diferent from the ones that you said...

@ dktoa I have tryed what you said (except thying to debug the event TracingGuidsNative.log), no luck

@Davies: Beofere writing this on technet i have tryed uninstall and install from local server, from the SCOM console.... the agent get installed but same problem.
No it is not a Domain Controler, and is not an Exchnage Server. Is a Web Server. ( on all other Web Servers the agent is runing)
The service is runing with Local system, I have tryed with Local Admin.. same problem.

    Checked debug and =>

  • Hi,

    Check these links:

SCOM R2 Agent won’t start. System event log shows EventID 7024 with Description ‘The System Center Management service terminated with service-specific error 123 (0x7B)’

  • Hi

"I have imported also the registry key from other SCOM Agent" - if it wasn't working before then this is likely to only make things worse. Can you please uninstall the agent and start again (UNLESS this is a management server in which case please post back before doing anything).

There is a clue to potenital problems in the error message - "service-specific error Access is denied.."

Is the server a domain controller? Or running some specific Microsoft application e.g. Exchange

Is this service running as local system or a windows account?

If a windows account, can you set it to have local windows administrator rights and the privilege to log on locally and then try again. We can actually drop the rights a bit (use a low privileged account in SCOM terminology) but this will quickly check if it is a permissions problem.

    Cheers

    Graham

  • The error code you are getting is access denied. If system gets access denied i have a feeling something is horribly wrong on that server.

it might just be the ntfs rights on the agent directory though. So basic rights troubleshooting > process monitor.
