3rd Party Management Pack Support with SCOM 2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

We are running the following 3rd Party Management Packs in our SCOM 2012 R2. Now we are planning to install SCOM 2019 (New installation). However while checking the support on these MPs with SCOM 2019, we found that none of these MP Vendors have started supporting SCOM 2019.

Does anyone have information on alternative Management Packs we can use instead on the below MPs, which are supported and can be imported in SCOM 2019.

    Audiocodes Gateway Management Pack
    Cisco Ucs Monitoring Management Pack
    Dell Server Management Pack
    HPE ProLiant Servers Management Pack
Progel Windows Scheduled Tasks Management Pack
    SolarWinds Orion SCOM Management Pack
    Windows LogicalDrives Management Pack

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,

    Sreejeet

  • Hi Sreejeet,

I have created a TechNet Wiki page which contains supported SCOM 2019 management packs:

    SCOM 2019 Management Packs
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/52876.scom-2019-management-packs.aspx

The management packs I have listed there are not necessarily all the management packs that have support for SCOM 2019, the list contains only management packs that has documented support for SCOM 2019.

For the best answer, I suggest you contact these hardware vendors and check if they support SCOM 2019.

Otherwise it's trial and error really, maybe some people on the community have worked with some of the management packs in your list that can answer if they work for SCOM 2019.

I believe many management packs that work for SCOM 2016 also work for SCOM 2019.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hi Leon,

    Thank you for the reply!

I have contacted most of the MP vendors sometime back and they informed that SCOM 2019 has not been supported yet with their MPs.

Its strange, since it has already been couple of months since SCOM 2019 has released but the 3rd party MP vendors still have not released MPs compatible with SCOM 2019.

    Regards,

    Sreejeet

  • Two months is not enough :-) It can even take up to a year or longer for support to come.

  • We are looking for Dell PowerEdge Server Management Pack  for SCOM 2019, the link you shared is for Dell EMC Servers monitoring. But my bad,  I did not mention the complete name of the Dell MP we are looking for that made the confusion.

Regarding the HPE MP link you shared, we will check on that and thank you for sharing the links.

  • The Dell EMC OpenManage management pack can monitor PowerEdge servers, please see the Compatible Systems at the bottom of the link.

  • Hi Leon,

I just read the Important Information section of this MP and found this:

"This Patch is only applicable to OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center Version (OMIMSSC) 7.1 for System Center Operation Manager (SCOM)."

Then I checked the Dell EMC OpenManage Integration Version 7.1 for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager MP I think the version 7.1.1 is a patch which can be applied on 7.1 as per the Important Information section. But the Version 7.1 MP supports SCOM 2016 and 2012 R2 only. There is a confusion here.

Dell EMC OpenManage Integration Version 7.1 for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager

The Dell EMC OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center 2016 Operations Manager and Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager, enables the monitoring of Dell EMC Servers, Integrated Dell Remote Access Controllers (iDRAC), Dell EMC Chassis Management Controller (CMC)/OpenManage Enterprise – Modular(OME-M) and Dell EMC Network Switches. The management packs provide Dell-specific views that you can use to observe and drill down the system status in a network.

Any information on this, as we cannot this right now as we dont have a test lab with SCOM 2019 yet.

  • Yes that is correct, the version 7.1.1 is a patch to the Dell EMC OMIMSSC 7.1 version.

  • So, no official support yet for Dell Power Edge servers for SCOM 2019 yet. :(

  • You will basically need to install Dell EMC OMIMSSC 7.1 version first and then apply the 7.1.1 patch.

"Supported" doesn't mean that it won't work, but when they state "supported" it means that it has been tested.
