Console cache?

    Question

  • Does the Console have any local cache on the client machine? Is it possible to delete that cache somehow?

  • There are three different SCSM caches:

Console Cache -> Restart SCSM console to clear

Data Access Cache -> Restart SCSM services on SCSM server to clear

Management Service  -> Stop SCSM Management Service on SCSM server, clear the Healtservice state folder in the SCSM install folder, start SCSM Management Service again to clear

  • Thanks Andreas, sounds reasonable, but then how shall we look at this? Is this some other method to delete cache?

"There is a REG key that you can remove to build a new cache:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\System Center\2010\Service Manager

    Close SCSM Console

    Back up this key.

    Delete everything under it.

    Re-open the console,

Choose to connect to a registered server and the cache will be rebuilt from scratch."

  • I never cleaned the SCSM caches with the method you posted above. So I am not sure what happens exactly with this method.

  • There were mutliple labels in multiple languages for a given View.

I was not able to get rid of the unwanted labels, until I have found a method, but initially I was trying to find a way to dump the cache.

  • It seems to work starting the console with the switch "-clearcache", that you used to do in OpsMgr when you wanted to clear the console cache. Don't know if it has any effect in SCSM though...

  • 1. Close the console

    2. Rename or delete the folder "C:\Users\<useraccount>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\System Center Service Manager 2010"
