Custom Relationship and filtering

Question

Hello every one
can we add custom relationships between user and business services, business service and other configuration items, so when we create an incident and select affected user and when adding affected services it shows only business services that the user subscribed to
also when selecting affected business service and when selecting affected CIs shows only the related CIs to that services

Hi
You will not be able to do that with out of the box controls.
It sounds like you want to have a filter apply based on the custom relationships, when you select the business service or when you select the user. The out of the box controls will not do this.
I think it would be possible to extend Business Services and create custom relationships. It would then be possible to use them in your own custom controls for selecting business servers etc, but this requires writing custom code (the controls).
You would write a control for selecting business services that applies a filter based on the relationship and it would only show the related user objects (or another control to select the services related to the user)

Glen

Thank you Glen
but this will require to rebuild incident form as well to add custom controls to restrict selecting services before selecting affected user and also to restrict selecting CIs before selecting affected services

Hi Sherif,
Yes that is correct. It would be quite a bit of work. This is one of the good (and bad) things in Service Manager - it can be extended in any number of ways, it just takes time and resources.
