WSUS - constant reset server node errors

-
Hello - we have a fully patched Server 2012 R2 Standard 64 bit running WSUS 4.0, running under VSphere.
20GB ram with 2 x 4 cores and plenty of diskspace.
After a few reboots it invariably seems that WSUS comes up with the Reset Server Node error. Only solution is to revert to a working snapshot or remove/reinstall the WSUS role. Also the WID and WSUS services have to be started manually every time even though they are set to start automatically.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
DH

If your "fully" upto date then you need to do the post install steps for KB3159706.
Open an elevated Command Prompt window, and then run "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil.exe postinstall /servicing" (case sensitive, assume C: as the system volume).
- Open an elevated Command Prompt window, and then run "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil.exe postinstall /servicing" (case sensitive, assume C: as the system volume).
- Select HTTP Activation under .NET Framework 4.5 Features in the Server Manager Add Roles and Features wizard.
- Restart the WSUS service.
Also your virtual hardware specs are well over the top. 4 vCPU and 4GB of memory is more than enough for WSUS.

Hi dhdh-hbhb,
Have you checked KB 3159706, could it work with manual steps to complete the installation?
Feel free to feed back if still have issues.
Best Regards,
Anne
