Failed to advertise product, error code 2

    Question

  • When I try to deploy a Quickbooks package I get the following in my log file.  I have the package set to run as administrator and have the computer included in my boundary.  Thanks for any help!

  • I had to change the package to "Download and Execute" when the "run with administrator's rights" is selected.  Once I did that the package would run successfully.

    Thanks!

  • 1619 = "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Double-check the source files and the files that exist on the DP. Have you manually tested this msi with the mst specified from the source files?

  • I can run the program from both the source files and the DP directly.  Meaning I can browse and execute it from both spots.  It was working correctly.  Is it possible for a package to get corrupted?

    Thanks,

  • Is it set to "Download and Execute" or "Run from Distribution Point"?

Yes it is possible for a package to get corrupted and you can select the "Update Distribution Points" or "Refresh Distribution Points" actions on the DP (or DP's) in question. The differences between the two are well documented in the online Docs on technet.

So, if it is set to D&E, does it seem like the entire package is in cache? If yes, can you run from cache on an example client? If yes, is it perhaps not honoring the /qn (i.e. are there notifications being displayed)?
